As of date, the Creekside Bean and Vine has been in business for five months. We’re excited to be a part of Spearfish, so get to know our owners!
Megan Furnish was raised in Spearfish, South Dakota, and attended a university in Denver, Colorado, where she obtained her degree in Social Science and Global Studies. Shortly after graduating from undergrad, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee. She loved the creativity and uniqueness of all the coffee and wine bars in Nashville and wanted to bring some of those characteristics back to her home town. In April, Megan and her pup, Wilson, moved back to Spearfish to help her family open up the Creekside Bean and Vine. Currently, Megan is the Administrative/Operations manager at the Bean and Vine as well as part-owner.
Megan hopes that the Creekside Bean and Vine isn’t only a place to get your favorite cup of coffee or a glass of wine, but that the Bean and Vine is a place where people feel welcomed and at home. She hopes that the store will become a place where people can connect and build a long-lasting community in her hometown.
When Megan isn’t at the shop, you can find her exploring the outdoors, spending time with her family and friends, or hanging out with Wilson. She is excited to be a part of this new adventure with her family, and she is honored to play a leading role in it.
Vicki Furnish has called the Black Hills home for nearly 25 years. When she isn’t innovating ideas for the Creekside Bean and Vine, she enjoys hiking, biking, skiing, and enjoying all the Black Hills has to offer. She is the mother of 4 kids and has been married to her husband, Rick, for 33 years. Vicki loves hospitality and connecting with people, and hopes to use the Creekside Bean and Vine as a means to connect people, build relationships, develop business ideas, and create community environments
Vicki has a background in Business and Accounting, so she has been a vital asset in the creation of the Creekside Bean and Vine. When her husband’s development group designed the Village at Creekside, she dreamed of enjoying coffee and wine by the Spearfish Creek. As the development of the Granary district neared completion, Vicki, her sister, and her daughter decided to jump into the venture themselves. After lots of fun, excitement, and a whole lot of work, they are proud to share their vision with the residents and guests of Spearfish, SD.
Kelly spent most of her childhood in Montana, where coffee and desserts always had a presence on the family table. She has a degree in elementary education, but Kelly’s true passion lies within the fitness industry. Following the birth of her four sons, Kelly and her husband moved their family to Spearfish, South Dakota.
Kelly quickly fell in love with the beauty of the Black Hills, including the quaint coffee shops and eateries. Kelly loved tubing down the Spearfish Creek and thought about how wonderful and relaxing it would be to have a coffee shop next to the creek.
The opportunity to open up a coffee shop arose when her family’s development group, Landmark Realty, began construction to build the Village at Creekside. In an attempt to bring the dream to life, Kelly, her sister, and her niece decided to open up the Creekside Bean and Vine and include their favorite things: coffee, wine, food, and love.
